While investigating a grisly discovery at a Hollywood tow yard, authorities confirmed Tuesday that rising music star D4vd, born David Anthony Burke, is cooperating with police after a woman’s decomposing body was found in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to him.

The remains were discovered on Monday, September 8, 2025, when employees at the Hollywood Tow yard detected a foul odor emanating from the vehicle, which had been impounded for approximately two days. The Tesla had previously been abandoned near Bluebird Avenue and Doheny Drive in the Hollywood Hills about five days earlier, according to police reports.

Los Angeles Police Department officials described finding the body of an adult woman inside a bag in the vehicle’s front trunk, commonly known as a “frunk” in electric vehicles. The victim, who could not be immediately identified due to severe decomposition, was approximately 5 feet 1-2 inches tall with wavy black hair and weighed about 71 pounds when discovered.

She was wearing a tube top and small-sized black leggings, alongside distinctive accessories including a yellow metal bracelet, metal stud earrings, and a tattoo reading “Shhh…” on her right index finger.

D4vd, a 20-year-old singer-songwriter who rose to fame with viral hits “Here with Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” was reportedly on tour when the body was found. With over 33 million monthly Spotify listeners and contracts with Darkroom and Interscope Records, the artist has established a significant presence in the music industry. He is scheduled to perform at his Los Angeles concert on September 20 as part of his ongoing tour.

Law enforcement sources emphasized that while the vehicle is registered to Burke, numerous individuals reportedly have access to the musician’s fleet of vehicles. The initial discovery was reportedly made by a man mowing lawn in the vicinity of the tow yard. The investigation, initially classified as death-related, may be reclassified as a homicide pending the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s determination of cause of death.

Neither D4vd nor his representatives have issued public statements regarding the case, though police confirmed the artist’s cooperation with investigators.

Identification of the victim remains challenging due to the body’s condition, with authorities relying on forensic methods for positive identification. Before his meteoric rise to fame, D4vd focused extensively on personal branding and collaborating with various producers to develop his distinctive sound. Beyond his recording work, the artist has diversified his income through sync licensing deals, placing his music in popular media.
