jaonaay s viral pop revolution

A musical prodigy with industry bloodlines, Jaonaay has emerged as one of Thailand’s most promising young artists in the contemporary Thai pop scene. Born Jinjett Wattanasin on June 28, 2001, in Bangkok, he carries the legacy of his father, singer Jetrin Wattanasin, and mother, actress Kejmanee Pichaironnarongsongkram, while carving his own distinctive path in music.

Jaonaay’s musical education began at age 8 with drums before expanding to keyboard and guitar, skills he would later showcase during performances at his father’s concerts alongside his siblings. After studying at Millfield School in England, he continued his musical development at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute in London, where he currently pursues a bachelor’s degree in music production.

His 2017 debut single “Kon La Chan,” released under his father’s label Jaymidi when he was just 16, catapulted him to immediate fame. The music video, filmed in Krabi, achieved one million views overnight and has since accumulated over 100 million YouTube views, earning him Song of the Year at the 2018 Nine Entertainment Awards.

Jaonaay’s musical style blends modern R&B with nostalgic elements, featuring Rhodes piano and layered vocal harmonies that capture themes of young love and vulnerability. His successful sound represents nearly a decade of artistic growth and personal development. His early commitment to regular songwriting helped him develop his unique artistic voice while maintaining authenticity. His 2021 single “14th Feb” featuring Juné garnered over 34.5 million Spotify streams, while “Sweet Baby,” his debut under Sony Music Thailand, sparked a viral TikTok dance challenge even embraced by K-pop group NCT Dream during their Thailand tour. He strategically leverages streaming platforms to expand his reach, using platform-specific features to enhance fan engagement and global visibility.

Beyond music, Jaonaay ventured into acting in 2020, portraying “Bank” in “Bad Genius: The Series” despite having no prior acting experience. He also contributed to the series soundtrack, composing and performing “Kong Rak Mai Dai.”

Representing a new generation of Thai pop artists with global ambitions, Jaonaay leverages digital platforms to transcend traditional boundaries, successfully balancing his family legacy with an authentic individual artistic identity that resonates with contemporary audiences worldwide. He is currently preparing for his first full album while remaining open to exploring different musical genres beyond his signature pop R&B sound.
