Rising from the coastal town of Frankston, Victoria, the indie rock quartet Belair Lip Bombs has carved out a distinctive place in Australia’s music landscape since their formation in 2017. The band—consisting of Maisie Everett on vocals and guitar, Mike Bradvica on lead guitar, Jimmy Droughton on bass, and Daniel “Dev” Devlin on drums—began as four friends who balanced day jobs with their musical aspirations, gradually building a grassroots following through local performances.

Frankston-bred indie rockers with day jobs turned grassroots sensations through relentless local gigging.

Their musical journey began with a self-titled EP in 2018, featuring six tracks that showcased their early sound influenced by 90s grunge and loud rock. By 2019, they released “Songs to Do Your Laundry To,” a three-track EP that signaled their shift toward indie pop.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the band honed their distinctive sound, releasing notable singles including “Blah Blah Blah,” “Golden Skin,” and “Out of Here” in 2021. The band’s reputation for energetic live performances has earned them supporting slots for established Australian acts such as Ladyhawke, Spacey Jane, Slowly Slowly, Tired Lion, and Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers.

Their performances at significant local festivals, including Ninchfest, have further cemented their presence in the Australian music scene, with their live shows blending elements of punk, post-punk, and jangle pop. In a significant industry development, Belair Lip Bombs recently signed with Concord Music Publishing ANZ, marking a major milestone in their career trajectory.

Their 2023 debut album “Lush Life,” released via Third Man Records as the label’s first Australian release, consists of ten tracks exploring themes of longing and self-discovery. The band meticulously prepared for this release by implementing a strategic release plan that included pre-save campaigns and targeted press outreach. The album title itself references a picture-perfect world that doesn’t exist but remains an aspirational concept throughout their music. The album, mixed and mastered by the skilled Nao Anzai, has received critical acclaim from publications including Pitchfork and The Guardian.

Looking ahead, the band has announced their upcoming album “Again” for release on October 31, 2025, with lead single “Hey You” continuing their indie rock evolution. To maximize their reach, they’ve utilized playlist pitching strategies across multiple streaming platforms to engage with new listeners. Despite initial challenges entering Melbourne’s music scene due to regional stigma, their Frankston origins have become both a challenge and a unique identity marker in their ongoing musical journey. Their sound has become recognizable for its bouncy bass lines and captivating vocal harmonies that create an infectious charm.
