North Chapel Music has announced significant leadership changes following Benny Brown’s acquisition of Wide Open Music Publishing, establishing a new executive team to spearhead the company’s strategic growth in Nashville’s competitive music publishing landscape.
The restructuring positions the company as a sister firm to Quartz Hill Music Group, creating an integrated approach to publishing and record label operations within Brown’s expanding music business portfolio.
Paul Compton has been appointed Executive Vice President, bringing over three decades of industry experience to oversee both administrative and creative operations.
Compton, who previously served as an executive at Wide Open Music, will lead the daily functions of the newly branded company while implementing long-term strategic initiatives.
Industry veteran Paul Compton brings continuity to North Chapel’s operations, balancing day-to-day management with future-focused development plans.
The leadership team is further strengthened by Jason Sellers, who steps into the role of Senior Creative Director while maintaining his status as a signed songwriter and partner at Quartz Hill Music Group.
Wendy Buckner rounds out the executive appointments as Creative Director, reporting directly to Compton.
With more than 20 years of experience spanning publishing, artist management, and television production, Buckner’s expertise adds considerable depth to the company’s creative capabilities.
Her shift from BSB Management creates a natural bridge between artist development and publishing functions.
The company’s roster combines established writers from Wide Open Music’s catalog, including Jaron Boyer, Neal Coty, and Matt Gorman, with newly signed talent such as Matt Cooper, Spencer Hatcher, Connor Hatcher, and Jennifer Wayne.
The catalog includes impressive hits like Brett Young’s Billboard No. 1 hit “In Case You Didn’t Know” and Matt Stell’s double-Platinum “Prayed For You.”
Several of these writers also maintain performing artist relationships with Quartz Hill Music Group, reinforcing the synergistic approach between the sister companies.
The company aims to help songwriters develop sync deals that can provide substantial income through licensing music for film, television, and commercials.
This strategic restructuring aims to position North Chapel Music as a cornerstone of Nashville’s music ecosystem, blending personalized attention typical of boutique publishers with the market reach associated with larger firms.
The leadership team’s combined experience suggests a focused effort to develop both veteran and emerging songwriters while serving as a direct pipeline of music for Brown’s related record labels and the broader global market.
North Chapel Music now houses Wide Open Music’s entire song catalog, which represents a significant addition to Brown’s publishing assets.
The company plans to leverage streaming platforms to maximize exposure for their artists while implementing innovative strategies for playlist placement and fan engagement.
