Puscifer Breaks the Mold With Fiercely Unorthodox First Album Since 2020

puscifer s unconventional new album

Musical mavericks Puscifer have officially announced their long-awaited fifth studio album, *Normal Isn’t*, breaking a six-year silence since their last full-length release. Announced in October 2025, the album is scheduled to arrive on February 6, 2026, through Puscifer Entertainment, Alchemy Recordings, and BMG, marking the band’s first new material since 2020’s *Existential Reckoning*.

The project has been described as a blend where “goth meets punk,” with frontman Maynard James Keenan indicating a return to the band’s raw musical roots. Co-vocalist Carina Round emphasized the album’s fluid creative process, noting how ideas evolved organically without creative restrictions. The unorthodox studio dynamics were characterized as “like an insane asylum,” highlighting the chaotic but productive environment that shaped the record’s distinctive sound. The band is exploring sync licensing deals as a revenue stream, aiming to place their boundary-breaking tracks in film and television productions.

Coinciding with the album announcement, Puscifer released lead single “Self Evident” alongside a theatrical music video. The track introduces listeners to the album’s fierce, boundary-pushing style with its dark, biting tone that aligns perfectly with the project’s defiant themes and unconventional approach to genre blending. The music video was filmed at Exchange L.A. during a live concert in August 2025, directed by Mat Mitchell and Mara Aceves Diego.

To support the new release, the band will set out on the “Normal Isn’t Tour” beginning March 20, 2026, in Las Vegas and concluding May 14 at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. The North American circuit will take them through major cities including Dallas, Boston, New York City, Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, and San Francisco, with comedian-musician Dave Hill confirmed as the supporting act. The band plans to leverage playlist pitching strategies across streaming platforms to maximize fan engagement during the tour. Ticket pre-sales began on October 22, with general sales following on October 24, 2025.

The album’s production prioritized capturing the intensity of live performances, with multi-instrumental experimentation creating unique sound textures. One standout track, “Seven One,” features Tool drummer Danny Carey alongside narration from Ian Ross, bringing a distinctive collaborative element to the album. Thematically, *Normal Isn’t* confronts societal norms through fierce unorthodoxy, with lyrics and soundscapes designed to challenge conventional music categories.

The highly anticipated release is expected to redefine Puscifer’s position in contemporary alternative music, appealing to fans of punk, goth, and experimental rock alike.
