Rapper Macklemore and Pro Athletes Targeted by Same Burglary Suspect, Police Reveal

burglary suspect targets celebrities

After a two-month investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies, 29-year-old Patrick Maisonet has been arrested in Renton, Washington, as the primary suspect in a series of high-profile burglaries targeting rapper Macklemore and several professional athletes in the Seattle area.

Maisonet, who has a history of violent burglaries and home invasions, was taken into custody after cutting off an ankle monitor earlier this year, violating his home detention terms from a previous incident on Beacon Hill in 2023.

The crime spree included a June 7, 2025, invasion of Macklemore’s Capitol Hill residence, where two intruders reportedly used bear spray on the rapper’s nanny before stealing valuable items. The intruders entered through an unlocked door while Macklemore’s three children were asleep in the house.

Investigators believe Maisonet specifically targeted high-profile Seattle residents, stealing expensive jewelry, watches, and distinctive rings linked to sports achievements.

Among the notable stolen items were Seattle Sounders MLS Cup rings bearing the owners’ names, connecting to Macklemore’s position as a minority owner of the team.

The theft of these personalized sports memorabilia has particularly affected the local professional athlete community, raising concerns about targeted crimes against celebrities in the region.

This incident comes as a significant blow to Macklemore, who like many musicians has been working to establish diverse income streams beyond traditional music sales to secure financial stability.

Since the burglary, the rapper has increased his social media engagement to maintain his public presence while dealing with the aftermath of the theft.

Law enforcement officials recovered thousands of dollars worth of stolen property through a raid on a South Seattle pawn shop, where they found custom Sounders rings and Seahawks memorabilia.

The pawn shop owner was subsequently arrested for trafficking in stolen property, while police released photographs of recovered items to help victims identify their possessions.

Police believe at least one other suspect remains at large, with authorities investigating whether they may have been involved in the series of robberies.

Maisonet has been charged with multiple counts, including second-degree robbery, and pleaded not guilty at his arraignment.

Court observers noted his aggressive behavior during proceedings, including offensive gestures toward cameras.

The case highlights the successful collaboration between Seattle Police, King County Sheriff’s Office, and Renton Police.

The King County Prosecutor’s Office is now reviewing evidence for additional charges as the investigation continues to identify other suspects potentially involved in related burglaries.

Authorities believe this arrest disrupts what had become a pattern of serial violent burglaries targeting prominent Seattle residents.
